Once you have your child's lacrosse age - you can determine which age group they play with.

Age designations are meant to correspond to grade  - so 9/1 is chosen the breakpoint for age groups because that's generally what is used to determine school grade.  Also there are no odd numbered age groups (7U, 9U, 11U, 13U) in GBYL offerings because each team contains two age groups.  So our 14U teams include both 13U and 14U and are meant to cover 7th and 8th graders, 12U teams include both 11U and 12U and are meant to cover 5th and 6th graders, 10U teams include both 9U and 10U and are meant to cover 3rd and 4th graders, and 8U teams include both 7U and 8U and are meant to cover 1st and 2nd graders.  Looking at the USA Lacrosse Age Chart, a player born in May 2013 would be considered "13U" - and thus would play in the 14U age grouping ... and a child born October 2016 would be considered "9U" and would play in the 10U age grouping.

In some cases, your child may be eligible to "play up" or in more rare cases "play down."
