Quick Stick Clubs
To encourage individual skills development and give players specific objectives during wall ball sessions, we will be recognizing 3 levels of achievement with quick sticks:
- Green/Beginner: 5 consecutive quick sticks
- Silver/Intermediate: 25 consecutive quick sticks
- Gold/Advanced: 50 consecutive quick sticks
Players can demonstrate their skills and earn recognition during Saturday wall ball sessions. If you can't make it on Saturdays - please email the club to ask about other opportunities to show your skills and get recognized.
What is a quick stick?
A quick stick is when a player catches and throws the ball in a single motion without stopping his or her stick. Consecutive quick sticks require a player to continue to catch and pass the ball back off the wall without stopping or cradling. We're using this as a measure/target for overall stick skills because consecutive quick sticks require the ability to both catch and pass consistently. There are other skills that can and should be developed when practicing against a wall or rebounder, but quick sticks are the best indicator of mastering the basics of catching and passing.
How are achievements recognized?
Players that show they can do the required number of quick sticks will receive special green, silver, or gold colored tape to go on their sticks so everyone can see. Recognition is earned for both strong and weak hand - so players can have two different bands of tape on their stick.
Single Green - 5 quick sticks with one hand
Single Silver - 25 quick sticks with one hand
Single Gold - 50 quick sticks with one hand
Double Gold - 50 quick sticks with both right and left hand
